Retro Barbies found today

anniescupboards 1 7:19 PM

I found these adorable Barbies at a store called Tuesday Morning. My friend told me about them and I was off so very fast to see what I could find. There are 2 stores by me. But in either direction. The one I chose first had nothing really retro but some nice Barbies for 9.99-14.99. The second location was where I found these 2 adorable retro Barbies. I have been looking for the mod Barbie in orange. She is now retired and I was so happy to see her sitting on the shelf waiting for me. Her outfit it so adorable. I really love the bold colors and the outfit itself. I adore her eyelashes and her hairstyle. I thank you again Susan for telling me! The campus Barbie is also a treat to find. I love her face. It reminds me of the vintage fashion Barbie's face. Both dolls were $19.99. The both came with stands. The campus doll came with a pull out back drop. Its a very nice size. She came with a trophy too. She has on pink heels. She has panties. Where as the mod Barbie did not come with panties. Why is that? She did come with a stand and is fully dressed wearing her coat and hat and boots. They both click at the knees. I can't wait to dress them all. They are so much fun to look at.

It was hard to find one that wasnt played with too much. You know with crayon marks or broken pieces or torn. This was is almost perfect. Now I can play dress up in Barbie's closet too. Yipeee!

Barbie and her mommy made clone clothing

anniescupboards Reply 10:29 AM
I purchased a bunch of vintage clothing and this was in the batch. Its so cute. The shirt is actually a linen jumpsuit. And the skirt is hand knitted in red. So adorable and very well made. The hat was also in there. Did ya notice its feedsack? *gush* I always give extra love to the handmade clothing. They are just more unique and special.

This is another adorable find. Handmade linen knitted dress. In yellow.

My Case of Vintage and Reproduction Barbie goodies

anniescupboards Reply 10:20 AM

I have been storing my vintage finds in this case I had. This case comes with lock and key. Its clear. Which I actually like. But then I think it needs to be themed. I want to make it more stylish. This box came with a hair dryer and brushes. I am still using that hair dryer. The brushes, not so much. I want to make this a OOAK case. Oh another project, yikes. I will give it some thought and see what I can make. I do adore the vintage Barbie cases I have seen on Ebay. However I never know which one I like most. Maybe If I can combine the two some how. Use paint and fabric and paper. Oh my. Lots to think of. *Happy thoughts*

Reproduction Barbies 50th Anniversary

anniescupboards Reply 10:22 AM

I am just bursting with happiness over here. Its Barbies 50th Anniversary and they released reproductions of the vintage barbies this year. I found all these at my local Walmart. THEY did this before in the 90's. I missed it all in the 90's and to be honest with you I wasn't into Barbies. I wasn't into retro styles. And I didn't have a sewing machine. (ok, I did but it was collecting dust in the closet on that top shelf) BUT all that has changed for me in 2009! I am so excited. I can't wait to see what else they release. I have been looking all over Ebay for some. I cringe at the prices tho. Even reproductions are costly. The shipping alone is half the price of the doll. Yikes. I only adore the vintage barbies or the reproduction ones. I wish I could afford the vintage. I am just too excited cause now I get to play with them. YES I am playing with mine. I will keep everything tho the boxes and goodies and pack those away for safe keeping. Unlike what I did to most of my toys as a child. Oh Why did we cut their hair and paint their nails and put moms sewing pins in the ears?

I got Julia!! Right On! I am looking for Midge! Where are you Midge? Are you coming to the party as well?

New dolls coming soon!

anniescupboards Reply 10:59 AM
I am currently putting my new sewing machine to a great warm up. I am working on 9 dolls. They should be coming out this week. As long as no distractions happen. *crossing fingers*

I have been busy over here in SUNNY South Florida. Yes I had to rub in the Sunny part. It's actually been very nice weather lately. We are finally not getting the humid air that we deal with 80% of the time here. And its awful when its summer. But now in Jan. while everyone is freezing we are currently dealing with 50 and 60 degree weather. I know, send the hate. haha. But your not here when its so flipping hot you can breathe. You must run your a/c 24/7 during summer months and pay the high bills that come with that. Or wake up sweating in puddles with bug bites all over ya. Your choice. I pass out in the heat. So I am a bit spoiled with luxury of having my air on most of the year. Its not always running but its on.

I am extremely happy to be attending a friend/work convention this year. Its for a forum I belong too and once in a while we do a meet n greet. Everyone takes a plane ride or a drive to a certain location/hotel that is all preplanned and we meet up and talk and hang out, shop and socialize for a few days. We have fun. We have parties and prizes and games. I have taken part in this get together 2 times already. This will be my 3rd time. The first 2 were held in Kansas City, Mo. This years meeting is in Harrisburg, PA. All the plans and prep work are being ironed out as we speak. I am really excited about it. I have never been to PA. I will be looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new faces. The will be personally blogging live from the convention. That will be a bunch of fun. You will know what I am doing and hopefully get to see too. I am working on those details. I can't wait really, I can't. Like REALLY!

I am currently making a few Barbie clothes. I have pushed that aside at the moment tho. I really need to get work done and play just a little bit less. But I must tell you its killing me to not play. I am sewing away today and going to watch Sabrina with Audrey Hepburn. I am just loving her movies lately. How come I never watched them before? I was so missing out.

Playing with Red and seeing Red

anniescupboards 3 11:57 AM
My computer is acting funny. I can't log into anything. I am currently using my notebook to get here. But all my stuff in on my pc. NOT here. Ugh. I am seeing RED! Hubby says he will fix it when he gets home tonight. I hope its something easy.

I have been playing over the weekend. I missed having red hair. Not as much as Hubby has missed it. So I decided to play and make it red. Its already washing out. No stop it. This shade of red is never a long lasting one. Its fun tho to see myself in the mirror. I forget and there is this BLAZING redhead staring back at me. You go girl. Work it.

Ps that pattern is coming. I know your waiting. Me too. stinky puter.

Primitive Valentines Day doll, Be Mine

I have made a Brand New DOLLY! I am typing up the pattern and shall hopefully have something ready for tomorrow. This dolly is much smaller than my cupboard doll. She is like a little sister of the cupboard doll. I just adore her little dress. Its so pretty.

Barbie play time, dress up!

anniescupboards Reply 1:15 PM
I purchased this package of vintage *toys* on Ebay. The shoes don't fit my reproduction Barbie doll. However I have an off name doll like barbie and they fit her perfectly. She has squishy small feet. The Reproduction barbie is actually bigger and thicker than vintage Barbies. I don't like that too much. Luckly I am making her own clothing. She can fit into some vintage Barbie clothing but not all. I do love this pack of goodies. The gold purse it so dying to get used.

New sewing machine, Bernina Activa 230

anniescupboards 5 12:28 PM
This is what I have been doing lately. Getting to know my brand new sewing machine. Hubby purchased me this darling Bernina. Its from the Activa line. I chose the 230. It was hard choosing a sewing machine, but worth the research that it took. I am so pleased with my new baby. I have decided to name her Maddy. This is the first time I am naming my sewing machine. I thought she deserves a name. This is a big event for me here. I always wanted a sewing machine as grand as this. It sews so pretty. Its so quiet. Its everything I ever wanted and even more than I wanted. I find new things and tricks to do with it. Her older sis the 240 model was my first choice but after researching and finding out there are only a hand full of differences between the two. Cept the price tag. BIG difference. If I could offer any advice, before buying a sewing machine do a check list of what you need and want in a sewing machine. Then research some models and see what people are saying about them. I will never purchase a sewing machine with out trying it out before buying. I used to just pick out BOXES and names. Now I know to TEST them. See how they are, see how they work and see what they can do. If the store does not let you try the machine.....then your better off NOT buying it. TRUST ME! I also found out that you can get a REALLY good sewing machine for the same price you would at any ole convenient store price. So check out your local sewing machine stores. Don't be afraid or scared. They will help you choose one that is for you. You can find quality in those stores. You could find a machine that is less than 300 bucks in those stores. If anything was to happen to your machine you can take it there. Unlike some stores who just wanna see your receipt. They people there to fix them. You can exchange your machine and get an upgrade down the road. Oh my so many choices. Such quality and so helpful.

A place for everything and everything in its place.

Hard Canvas Machine Cover. I have yet to use it. I am too busy sewing on it. haha!
This is for needle felting. They just came out with it. I am so excited. Oh FYI, Only the Activa models will fit the felting foot. So now I can machine felt. My fingers are totally dancing with excitement. No more bandaids when crafting! yipee!
