Bird Watching of a different kind

More like baby duck protecting.

The mama duck on my front porch is still there nesting on her eggs. The other mama duck that came by with her babies still drops by every now and then. With less and less babies with her. I feel so sad. She only has 7 left. The other day I watched 3 hawks swoop down and snatch 2. By the time I made it out to the backyard (after panic fiddling with the locked sliding glass door) the 3rd one was swooping down and I ran out there waving my arms and it flew away. The hawks were grey and white. Usually I see them they are black and brown. I was so mad and upset. Then 2 days after that I was washing dishing and I witness a very large Stork in my backyard and he was guess what? Scooping up a baby duck and ate it whole. I was like WHAT? I banged on the glass and it flew away. But it came by 3 more times to try for another. Eventually it gave up cause I would not. I feel the same fate will happen to the others on the porch. Its natures horror show in my backyard. I don't watch those animal shows for a reason. Someone always gets eaten. Circle of life. I know. I know. I just don't need front row tickets. Eeekkk.

That's so sad! I'd be flailing out there trying to keep those preditors away from the babies too. I would totally feel like a surogate mama duck trying to help those babies grow up. Hey, you think some big pink flamingos in the yard would keep those birds scared away? Hugs!

Oh that makes me so sad!! I'm such an animal lover and I know it's nature, yada, yada, yada, but we just want to protect these cute babies, don't we?

I'm glad they have a bit of human help.

P.S. Love your pink vintage bike.

Yes, we should do some research on how to scare away those stinking hawks and other cannibalistic birds! Without scaring the babies of course! Nature is so ugly. I really don't think we were meant to see it.
