Vintage Bed Sheet Fabric Dresses

I made these dresses out of vintage bed sheets last year.
I decided to keep this one for myself. And the one below.
I never keep anything for myself. I am going to start making
a bunch more of these dresses so I thought I should
take what I like now and spoil myself a little.

I found more of this fabric the other day. I will just have
to make another one for sale. Since I am keeping it.
I really do love the colors and the print.
These two dresses will be perfect for
spring 2012. I love everything about them both.
I need to find some color stockings.

I love using vintage bed sheets in my creations.
I love making them as much as my dolls.
They are so much fun and pretty.
Vintage bed sheets are perfect for crafting.
You can go to your thrift store and
pick up any bed sheet and just use it as practice.
Sheets usually cost about 1.00 to 5.00 bucks
depending on your area, size of sheet and thrift store.
There is a bunch of fabric in a sheet.
They come in so many colors and patterns and styles.
I prefer the vintage bright ones.

This Snow White one is for sale in my Etsy Shop right now.

This is on the fence. I just went DIY crazy on this one.
I love the doiley I used.
The vintage quit piece I found while thrifting one day.
I think I am keeping this one.
I could use it for my local crafty shows
and grocery shopping and thrifting.
I did have a photo shoot in this dress.
I guess I SHOULD keep it.
I can always make more and plan too.
I have several skirts I made like this too. I need
to get photos of those.

I made these too. These are bigger sized than the other ones.
I am going to just make all kinds of styles and sizes.
I wanna go crazy.
I have been using vintage patterns and then
just throwing my own ideas in the mix.
I made sleeves bigger and added pockets.
I want to add more pockets and hidden pockets.

I just got more of this fabric so I think I will make another dress from it.

Vintage Yellow Night Stand

I went thrifting really fast the other day.
I was with my friend and telling her
how the last time her and I were out I regretted
not getting a piece of furniture I saw. It was a really
nice yellow night stand. I wanted it. It was 20.00.
I walked away.

Her and I were just discussing this and I turn the corner
and what do I see in front of us both?
Staring at us.
This yellow nightstand.
I asked how much it was.
The man said, the price is so good I bet you won't say no.
$5.00.

I was like SOLD.
There it was all alone away from its matching brother or sister.
No Dad dresser, no Mom dresser.
Just alone.

It is really bright. This looks nothing like the one I saw before.
WAY WAY BETTER!
And that price. Hello.

I am going to use it in the hallway and it will maybe have a Pyrex dish on it.
I am thinking about maybe a vintage lamp.
I will keep linens in the drawers.

I talked hubby into letting me buy several pieces of
vintage furniture in color. After showing him
photos online of several room he then understood where I
was going. I am going to make over the family room
with vintage and modern pieces. I am tired
of hubby's overly used brown color.
I let him choose everything last decor change.
My turn.

Next up, Blue couch please!!

Barbie Brooches and Necklace

I listed these in my Etsy shop.
These are cute little statement necklaces.
You can remove the brooches from the hearts.
You can wear them separate or on the necklace.

Or maybe you just want a brooch and no necklace.

This one makes me happy.

Pasta Salad for Potluck

I almost forgot to share my Potluck dish I made.
I made a pasta salad.

Pasta
artichoke hearts
capers
cherry tomatoes
basil
bacon
goat cheese

I made my own dressing.
Take one lemon and shave off all the peel on the outside.
Then cut the lemon in half and squeeze all the juice out.
Mix in olive oil. (1/3 of a cup, maybe more. Taste it first.)
Mix away.
Add salt and pepper.
Pour over when ready to serve.

March 2012 Crafty Party

Before anyone came over to the house. I made another skirt
that morning. I am glad I did. Cause there is no way I would have been able to make
it. I was BUSY teaching and helping. Now I have 2 skirts I made in my closet
and I am all excited about. This one cost me $2.50.

I really love gathering with these girls and having fun.

This is the first time EVERYONE completed their project
before leaving the house. YIPEE!!
I must say I was rather happy about that.

We had so much fun at the Make your own skirt party.
I am going to have another one in the summer.
I want to talk them into zippers. I am not sure
how they will like that.

Raggedy Ann in Etsy

I listed 10 Raggedy Ann dolls in my Shop yesterday.
I am going to list some of my Barbie creations today.

Anniescupboards and Raggedy Ann go hand and hand.
I love making these babies!!

Handmade Skirt in 15 mins.

So maybe, I have a little practice and I can get it done
in 15 mins. It is really easy to make an elastic skirt.
There are so many tutorials on the internet for them.
There are lots to choose from.
I just went with something basic since my
fabric has so much fun wiggle pattern on it.
I am having a crafty party this weekend.
I am going to show them all how to make
this skirt. I will show off what we did.
I kinda sorta cheated but not really. Cause
I was not suppose to make mine till the party.
I am teaching the class so I honestly did
not think I would even get mine done.

I did buy other fabric to play along and make another
one with them. I just wanted to make sure I had something
done. Just in case.

After making this. I got skirt fever. I want to make at least
10 more. I want to fill my closet. You can dress this skirt up or
down. You can match it with so many things.

This skirt cost me 2.50 for the fabric. (on sale)
$1.00 for the Elastic.
Maybe 25 cents worth of thread.
$3.75

Farmers Markets

Ever since hubby and I have been reading up
on Monsanto. We have been at the farmers market
even more this year. I want organic foods.

We have been diving into what is sold at the supermarket
and what is organic and what the FDA allows. Very important
stuff. So every week we are at the Farmers Market
getting our organics and talking with the farmers.

WOODSY people House!!

So there are no more of these homes in my area.
NONE.

My dear sweet lovely friend Shannon sent this to me.
She surprised me with it.
I was so ever shocked.
I started to tear up. Cause, well, you know how I love
making these homes. If I would have known the
last one I sold would have been the very last one EVER
I would have kept one for myself.
I get to make one for me now.
I am so every thankful to you SHANNON!!
XOXOXOXOO

You can find Shannon here on facebook and on her blog.
Check out her hand made creations and tell her SHERRY
says Hi as she was clutching her woodsy people house.
(giggle)

Vintage Housecoat Makeover

My friend gave me this project to make this shorter.

Now it no longer looks like bedroom attire.
Now it looks like you can wear this on an evening out.
It went from boring bathrobe to an evening cape jacket.

Relaxing!

This is pretty much what I have been doing.
It has been dreamy.
No vacation, just hanging out with friends in their pool
and backyards and smiling.

Sewing and Really enjoying my job

Did I tell you the blinds in my craft room window
broke. They snapped in half one day when I went to open them.
I have this in the window now.

There are wonderful moments that enter in my craft room.
The morning light, lately the cool crisp air.
I leave the windows open so we can all enjoy the fresh
air. The cats love it too. It makes me think of
so many things. Like being thankful that this is
what I stare at for a living. This is my surroundings.
I enjoy it so much.

I am making a bunch of little dolls. They should be making
their appearance here very soon.

Pyrex Gooseberry Set Completed

I finally completed my Vintage Gooseberry Pyrex Cinderella Bowls.
I have 3 of the larger yellow bowls in my Pyrex collection. I just need
to pick out the best one and display and use this set often.
When I walked into the thrift store, they had the whole set
there. Even the large bowl. I passed on that large 4 quart bowl since I have
3 already at home. I am still sticking to my buy only what you
need. I always say in my head oh you can sell it online or locally.
But that never happens. I am too lazy to lug any heavy Pyrex to my
craft shows. I also want to keep it once it crosses my front door
no matter how many I have.

The possibilities of not knowing what you are about to find
is just simply amazing for a thrifter like me. This thrift
store was just messy and needed careful eyes.

You have to get in there and move stuff around and hunt.

What I like to call, the ugly Pyrex.
I know some like this and have to have it.
For me. Nope. Pass. Very easy for me to pass.
I am and was laughing at that $15.00 thrift store price tag.
This one is a 4 quart.

Some people love and collect all Pyrex. I do not.
I left it there for the person who does!!

They wanted 10.00 for this Ivy Pyrex 4 quart bowl.
I was like ehh. So it stayed there.
Pretty, but not my type of Pyrex pattern.

I found this Hamilton Beach milkshake maker for 6 bucks.
It is not vintage.
It is the reproduction one.
But it looks vintage.
And it works. So of course I bought it.

I found a fat quarter of the yellow vintage feed sack fabric
and just a little square of the red.

I found 3 vintage utensils.
I am smitten over the fun retro graphics.

I found both of these vintage hand mixers in the same store.
I paid 1.50 for each of them. I love them.

I found this Spring blossom Split divided bowl with lid.
Perfect condition too.
I also found a small green child size suitcase.
I have restrained myself from buying suitcases.
These ones are easy to use and I have remake
plans. I just need a few more. I am patient.
I will find more.

I found two vintage hankies and a Vintage Vera green Color block scarf.

I has been a while since I thrifted. I was happy to find some
really wonderful treasures. Get out there and thrift!
Be patient. Keep going.

Mini Raggedy Ann doll

So there has been a whole bunch of items I have not shown you.
I am really bad at blogging while crafting and prepping for a show.
So I owe these photos to you.

I made these Barbie Statement Necklaces.
They are inspired from my
love of vintage retro Barbies.
The "frames" are actually pins/brooches.
You can take it off and wear it by itself and
if you have another brooch you can place it on the heart
and wear that as your statement necklace.
I am putting some in my Etsy shop.

I made these little Raggedy Ann dolls.

I am making this dolly into a pattern.
I made six of these dolls for my craft show and they
all sold. I thought I shown them off here. I guess I did not. I just reviewed
my past posts and I am not seeing them.
I get so busy with craft show crunch time.

I shall be making some for my Etsy Shop.
These dolls are 10 inches tall.
They have small everything. They are cute!!

I made a bunch of hair clips.
I need to make more of my recycled linen hair clips. I have 2 left.

I did make some brooches. I did not want to make them all
into necklaces.

I made a few rings too. I sold a bunch of the bow rings.

The other day I was watching tv (everybody loves raymond)
and look what I spied on the microwave.
Vintage Pyrex!!
