Thrifty Pyrex finds from yesterday

I was not going to buy that green Pyrex bowl. I left it at the store more than once. So my 3rd visit I said FINE your coming home with me. I...

So over the weekend I got tapped on the shoulder and was shown a blog all about vintage Pyrex. Girls like me who thrift, Etsy, Ebay, yardsale and scour the streets of their towns for Pyrex. Come take a peek here at The Pyrex Collective. I have been asked to contribute to the blog. Yipee! I read that entire blog Friday night. If you love vintage Pyrex you should totally come over and visit. And often. You know how much I love Pyrex! I am so happy to find a bunch of girls to show off my Pyrex too, cause you know hubby is like way over it. HA! Speaking of hubby, he went thrifting with me this weekend. We passed by a store and I was like please please please lets stop I feel Pyrex calling my name. I was right. It was calling me. I found this Pyrex Pink trimmed bowl. Its rather large. I know it goes to a set. This is a serving bowl. I have 2 plates to match this. I am not into collecting this set. However I am into selling or trading to get the sets completed I do want. No Pyrex will be turned down here. Its like gold.
I found this beautiful set of tea plates and cups. They are rather large. I do not know the maker or name of this. They feel Pyrex like. There is no marking on any of the pieces. I saw a few sets like this when I visited Lancaster, PA 2 years ago. I really wanted them. However I did not like the $40.00 price tag they had for a set of one. I found this set of 4 for 4.99. I was so happy to see them. Usually at that thrift store they would mark it way more. I think the person who usually does the marking in that store no longer works there. Cause lately all the Pyrex has been affordable there when usually its so out there in price for a thrift store. Even if they are not Pyrex items they would totally mark up certain items. Lately. Not so. (BIG FAT THRIFTY SMILE)

I found this aqua snowflake Pyrex beauty. Sure it a little scruffy. Still has lots of life left for me. I was so happy the lid was on it. Usually they sell the lids separate. When there is this much ware on Pyrex it means 2 things, one they used the dishwasher to wash it, two they loved it so much they kept using it. I hand wash all my vintage Pyrex.
I found my second butter dish. Its the same one I already have. So now I have 2. I know someone who has more than just 2 butter dishes. Her. She who has the most wins!

So happy to meet all you new friends who are coming over for some Pyrex love. Nice to meet you. I am drooling over your blogs and your wonderful finds. I am so happy to be able to share Pyrex Love with you!

Vintage Pyrex Connection

I needed a small mirror and I saw one at the thrift store the other day. I headed back there today to see if it was still there. It was. Its just the perfect size for my craft booth. While I was there I found 2 matching vintage suitcases in green. They are in great condition. These are smaller than the ones I have been finding lately. I like opening them and seeing the ruffles. I have been really lucky lately with the suitcase finds. I did find 2 red ones the other day. I thought I would never pass up red suitcases. I did. They were not in good shape in the inside. At all. The outside was a little beat up but still nice. I am using them for storage not really display so dingy (icky) insides won't do.
I found a vintage Fire King dish. I have two mugs in this print. I only paid $1.50 for this. I think that is the cheapest I have ever paid for vintage Fire King.

I have listed my Primitive Raggedy Ann Dolls in my Etsy Shoppe. One sold already. Hooray! I love that. Someone really wanted to be her Mommy asap. (Thank you Lauren!) I do also have those patterns I promised to write up. They are in the Etsy Shoppe too.

I have been playing with needle and thread this week. A whole bunch. Times a ticking and I like staying busy until the show is here. But I have another show coming in May so I will just keep on sewing till then too. I am going to do a practice set up later today so I know how I will set up my table at the craft show. I have a few ideas. I am going to have lots of photos of the day of the show. I will be having twitter updates so you can see how the day is going. I will also use my twitpic to upload some photos. I will have lots to share the day after here on my blog. This is the first year for this Indie show. I can tell you there is going to be a bunch of fun vendors there. I saw the list. I want to go shopping. If you have never been to an Indie Craft Show. I totally recommend checking them out. Look in your area. They are popping up all over the place. Some people get mad cause they don't have any near them so they go and start one up. That is what a few of the gals did for this Odd Duck Show I am attending this weekend. So if you can't find one. HAVE ONE!

Thrifty Vintage Suitcase

I always see phones like this for sale. This one was cheap enough not to pass up. It works and has lots of long wall cord. I would have rather had a black or red one. So I think I shall craft this one up and make it more me. We have no land phone lines here. We use cell phones. Why have so many bills? We stopped using a land line 3 years ago when the hurricanes were coming threw here left and right. The cell phones were the only phones working during the storm. Not all the time tho. But when you can have internet and phone service when the power is out in your house, you become very happy and wonder what good is that land phone for? Not to mention free long distance. Today's future forces yesterdays leftovers into art.
I found a set of 4 cups and 1 mug of that "milk type looking glass". They have the same look as Pyrex, Fire King and Anchor Hocking. However they are none of those. They are called Termocrisa. They were made in Mexico. How cool is that they have made similar dishes. I like them. You can find a few on Ebay here. I hope to find more. I see some cute ones. These are red and blue. I personally think they say Christmas. (50 cents each)
I found this plastic napkin holder & this Aladdin Thermos. It has hardly been used. I am going to use this. I used to have one when I was a kid. You remember them don't you? Come peek over here. I used to have Charlie Brown/Peanuts and I had Holly Hobby. I need to ask my sisters what they had. I don't remember and now I am really interested in knowing, Pronto. I love that this one has a handle. I just love holding it. That I could just carry it with me anywhere and have something refreshing or soothing to drink/eat. They have the screw tight lids so you know nothing is escaping and the lid that turns into a handy little cup. And don't forget you can unscrew the bottom and clean that area out if needed or replace your cooling/heating unit/cup inside. Oh and that game box you see me stacking things on. That is actually a vintage game board that folds out and the inside part has all these little wood carved pieces. All of them there. This dates from the 1970's.

Now normally I am not an Avon collector. But this screams hello use me and I am super cute and only 50 cents you must take me home. So I did. I am going to clean it and use it. Its a hand pump. Its made of glass and has some weight to it. It very bright. Love in an instant.
I almost over looked these. They were stacked among a bunch of things and kinda almost just got lost. Almost. The yellow bowl is not that big its a Fire King bowl (25 cents) and the plate is pink Pyrex (50 cents) I also found a set of 4 wood carved floral napkin rings. Those are getting a make over.

Oh Yipee. I have not been thrifting in a while cause I am just too busy. I have been sewing away super woman like and painting away. I am going to offer a variety of crafts this year and I hope to get them all done. I think as a vendor you have this fear/panic that sets in a month before the show. You wonder if you will have enough. Did you make enough of the right things and did you offer all of your talents for sale? Some vendors I think have stock kept hidden away. Maybe they have stores or they just started making things way earlier than I? No way. I have OCD remember? haha I know I will have enough to show off I mean sell. HAHA. I am at the point of where I am running out of room to hide all my handmades. They will soon have to come out of hiding from around the house and into storage bins. There is lots I don't want to let go but must for the sake of Art and self Indulging in a little bit of OH YES...I made this.

Home school is going back into full swing on Monday. (did you hear the little one scream? lol) We have lots of reading and Science and History to learn. Oh yes. I think more field trips should be done this year. Visit some state parks. We have lots of historical and science things to do around here. We need to learn about history past and present. Maybe spark a future job for the little man. Oh wait he is in 8th grade. No more little man stuff. Shoot. I hate that they grow and get all teenager like. haha.

I found this vintage manual type writer. I was thinking of someone else when I bought this and now I am feeling like I should just keep it and play with it and use it for altered art projects and display purposes. I dunno. Maybe. You know I saw some ribbon in another thrift store. I wonder if it compatible? I really love the style of this machine. And I love hearing the clicking noses as I type on it.

I have no idea why I purchased this. But you never see them and it could come in handy. I worked in enough retail places to inform you this is called a till. Its the part that comes in and out of the register. Where you place your cash and coins. Display ideas are not coming to mind but maybe they will.
1960's Time life Encyclopedias with oodles of vintage photos. This set just showcases what times were like in each era. One book will contain 1800's & 1900's then go to 1910 &1920 and then 1930&1940 etc. They show what was in fashion in those Era's, samples of newspapers, ads hair styles, war information, etc. Lots of good reading here for sure. I think I might use them in altered art projects not sure yet.2 fire king mugs. Yipee. You know they were each .49 cents. I know! But they wrote in red marker on each mug. Lucky for me I was able to get that off with some nail polish remover and a Q-tip.
Ya know I was screaming inside when I found this vintage Polaroid film. I know you can still buy this film on Amazon.com but its so expensive still. I have 4 cameras to test this out with. Yipee!!
I found another care bear sheet. The flat again.
I found this very pretty orange and yellow daisy vintage sheet. Full Size
I found these Mod vintage pillowcase shams STILL in the packaging.
I found these misc. oyster forks. Or seafood forks really. Why is that celluloid? YES yes they are! The forks on the left bottom are from Germany and need to be polished. By golly they are real silver!
