I found this full size complete sheet set of Vintage Peanuts. The date is 1971, the year I was born. I am too excited about this find. I ADORE PEANUTS! They are my favorite. I am not sure I will be able to cut into these. Or the other one I found a few weeks back. If I had a full size bed these would be on it right now.
I found yellow Retro Vintage Bed Sheets and 2 pillowcases. I really like them a bunch.
Retro Handmade Vintage table cloth. (round)

I have a Halloween Party that I am going to this weekend. I been looking all through the thrift stores to find something to wear. Its a themed party. 1970's. I really don't like using costumes from a store shelf. Years I have and I promised myself no more. They charge so much money for those costumes and they are made HORRID! They don't fit like the way the photo shows. Most of the time the costumes are way to big on me. Not to mention they never looked finished. Just some hurry up and rush job and not a very good one either. I sew. I make costumes. I have been lazy in the past. But I had little time to sew and make something this year. So what to do? My mind ran all over the place for a costume. I thought what if I was a disco roller girl? I did not want to wear skates the whole night. The party is half in the yard and house and who wants someone walking in skates in their yard or house? So nope. Next I thought of being Daphne from Scooby Doo. Until I saw the store bought costume was made out of velour fabric. In South Florida where I live, its 92 degrees this week. We are in second summer over here. So wearing that is out of the question. I wish we had cool weather this time of year. But we do not. So then I thought the thrift stores must have something from the 70's right? Oh they do. Just not in my size. So I started looking at clothing online from the 70's. I was checking out styles. Looking to see how the hairstyle were. After doing a little research I then headed over to Walmart. Yes Walmart. I went over to the ladies section and found a few dress styles that are from the 70's Era. And since everything that is retro is now in again I was happy to find something that I could make do. But I did not leave it plain. I altered the dress. The dress only cost 15 dollars. You can not even find a costume for that. I then just headed to the fabric dept. and collected lots of disco-ish embellishments. I will have a photo for you soon. I promised I would wait till the day of the party to show off my costume or I would have posted it over the weekend. I love it. The most funny thing tho about it, my sister in law has the same dress but in yellow and she wore it in the 70's. IT LOOKS just like her dress. I wonder if my Mother in Law will loan me the photo so I can do a side by side photo and show you. So while others are shopping in the costume dept and prolly going to show up at this party all wearing identical costumes, I won't be.

Are you looking for a messenger bag tutorial? How about a free one? I can do that. Looky, I just made this one. It took all of 3 hours. I was going for 2. Seeing how this is the first time ever making one, I think 3 hours could turn into 2 with practice. Once you start making them you then quickly figure out what to do and not to do. I will share those tips with you in the tutorial.
I lined the bag using a canvas type of fabric to give it a little sturdy structure. I even used interfacing. When making a bag you really need sturdy materials (fabrics) as much as possible. But I had to use this soft cotton printed fabric. I had just enough left over to really do something with but what? It had to be worthy of it too. I wanted to show it off. So the bag came into mind. Don't you you just love it when you can make something with that special fabric you just love.
You can make your own bag and your being green by doing so.

The inside has a pocket. Just one and a Velcro closure. This is going to be a simple bag for you to make and you will love how many places you can take and use it.

Tutorial coming soon!

UPDATE: I am making another bag for my tutorial. It would help if I take photos all through the making process and not half way like I did for this one. Opps. So once that bag is made I shall have a tutorial for you. And yes a smaller size one too at that. Hubby nicknamed this bag a BAB. Bab meaning: Big Ass Bag.

I scanned about 4 pages of embroidery designs I found in a thrift store the other day. I just found a few pages and I really like them. They remind me of Dutch prints. Hearts and birds ya know? I am going to use them for some pillows I am working on for my bedroom. Hopefully I will have photos to share? Which means I need to get started? I am on a clothing creative binge at the moment so I don't see why this pattern can't show up on a skirt or dress.

Vintage Red American Tourister Hard Shell Suitcase. This was a wonderful find. I actually found 3 red suitcases that day. I only purchased this one because of the style. I do love the color red and have been hoping one day to find one and I did. Hooray! The last suitcase I found like this was very small and blue and had keys and I had my friend paint it for me. I used it as this past craft show as part as my display to hold my dolls. I am going to use this one now. Its so perfect and much bigger to hold more dolls. Maybe I could store all my vintage sheets in here until craft show time? Oh that sounds like an idea. The other two red suitcases I left back the the thrift store were left there for a reason. First they were soft cloth. Second, they were locked closed and no keys were found. How is one to get into a locked thrifted suitcase? Is there a way to open them? I do much prefer the one I did get and very very happy with it. I am really happy about the inside of the suitcase. Its very clean and I love the fabric satin inside. They don't line suitcases like this anymore. I could totally use this suitcase while traveling too and I prolly will. It locks up good and tight.

Tupperware Salad Dressing Container and glass Garfield coffee mug. Yippe another mug to add to my collection. I found one a few months ago. I have this thing for Garfield. He is so catty.
Oh this is a joy. I found some pages of a book that look like stitchery drawings. I am going to scan them and offer them in pdf form so you can print them and stitch them too.
Vintage Corelle and Vintage Osterizer Storage Container
Vintage blue purple aqua bed sheet. I was happy to find these. I have the orange and pink ones. I saw these online as I peeked through Etsy and Flickr. This will have to go in my stash for crafting. I can see a few belts and purses.
Vintage Anchor Hocking Bowl. I am finding greens and yellows lately huh?
Vintage sewing supplies found. Pinking Sheers oh my.
Vintage Yellow Pyrex Bowl.
Vintage plastic knitting needles. I paid $2.50 for all these. I know and I have no idea how to knit. I can crochet a pot holder. I have been wanting to learn to knit for so long. My sister in law will have to show me.
Vintage Orange Plastic 1960's canister set. $4.00.
Vintage Needlepoint books. These were library books. Sweet. I always wondered what happen to the books when they get to a certain age. At my library they sell them. I guess someone donated them and I was lucky enough to get them thrifted.
No marking is on this one. It looks like vintage Tupperware but its not. This butter dish looks hardly used inside. I paid 49 cents for it. I know it will fit/match perfectly with my collection so far. I must say yes. Lots of greens and yellows were found last month. I did find a whole set of vintage blue Solo cup holders. But thats not Pyrex or Tupperware. But it is a good find. Most of the time I see brown ones. And there was plenty of brown ones that day too to choose from. They stayed behind. I am sure these will come in handy for something creative. I have been hiding all these photos from you cause I have been just so busy getting craft show work done that I did not have time to flaunt my wares/finds to you. So I made this a jammed pack post of thrifted finds.

I have been thinking of signing up for another craft show. Its happening in March, 2010. Its an Indie craft show. (my favorites) and its locally and indoors. That all points to me saying YES! I am going to turn in my application and see what happens. I have stock left over from Stitch Rock and I am going to be crafting from here to there so I am sure there will be new items I will offer. It could be a chance for you to scoop up some goodies from me if you missed out last craft show. Monday I will inform you if I have decided. Oh my am I really gonna?

Stitch Rock 2009 was awesome! I would like to thank you personally if you came out to the show. It was a fun time for us crafters to show off our handmade goods and have you LOVE them. There was a bunch of creative people at this show who were vendors. I saw lots of new faces (vendors) I did not see last year. I also got to see lots of creative crafts. I love it. I want to shop myself. But I have to stay in my booth. However before everyone came through the door I did run all over to take photos and check out some goodies. This was my booth. I was going for bright, happy cheerful display. I think it worked, I was told that all day. haha.

I kept changing things around and pulling things up to the front which did help buyers see and want those items. I had so much fun at the show. I really loved hearing all the comments about how cute or how awesome my goodies were. Little girls were falling in love. I was falling in love with their love. My head was swelling with happiness and pride at the end of the day.
So many people were loving the vintage sheets I used in my creations. Lots of them remember them from their past. Or from Gramma's house. It was really nice and so fun to hear someone screaming, "Oh my gosh my gramma had those sheets" and then a story would follow. I love bringing back happy memories to someone. Its so awesome how an item can flood someone with so much memories.

Here are some photos of other booths and tables so you can see what people are selling there. Maybe you will come by next year. Its not all aqua and red, pigtails and dolls.

Boobs and Beer are there. The lady below makes these. They are so fun and cute. They are pillows. Can you imagine these on your bed? I have a habit of using the word boob. "What a boob!" "I'm such a boob!" Then to see them there. haha. Loved it.

Love this gal's creative passion. She repurposes clothing and vintage ones at that. Linens too. She makes the most devine style. No one will be wearing what you find in her closet. You must go see her store. http://www.ragamufyn.com/

This was the line to get in. It was only 10:30 am. We did not open till Noon.
The line just kept on growing and growing....
and growing. The vendors and I kept peeking out this window and would see this view. We saw it happen 4 times. Once the line would get short a few mins later boom, long again. We were so happy. My gosh it did get busy when the doors first opened. I think so many were trying to get a goodie bag. There was only 100 of them. I thought there was 150. I think last year there was 15o. Lucky for me I get a goodie bag. All the vendors get a goodie bag. Yipee. There was some very cool things in there this year. I will have to take a photo of it. Next year I must, must must take part in the goodie bag donations. It can be anything you want to donate. Most donate biz cards and maybe candy. Some give buttons and pens, stickers and such. But if I was the shopper coming to this event I would be more interested in the PRIZES they are giving away. They don't give them away as soon as the door opens. So relax and sleep in and show up to the show later and catch the fashion show and win some door prizes and then shop.

Cute n Sweet Cafe is on Etsy, right here! You must see her. This was her first time at Stitch Rock. Her handmade creations are so adorable and fun and very well made. I bought a candy corn necklace charm. I could have bought more. I really could have.

Oh you know I was all over this booth. They have a store here locally and all they carry is 1960's- 1980's wares. ALL MY FAVORITES! I am going to this store as soon as I have money to spend. I really want lots of stuff. I cant even start listing. We would be here all day. Come check them out on Etsy, RIGHT HERE!

Thank you all so much for coming out to the show. Thank you CUSTOMERS! You totally rock by supporting me and my love. I hope to see you next year. Remember I will have lots of new items to tempt you with. XOXO
