Thrifty Black Friday for me

anniescupboards 4 8:32 AM
Sometimes I take photos with my iphone and sometimes I take them with my fancy camera.
Just in case you were wondering why some look a little grainy.

I found this huge jar of vintage buttons at the thrift store.
I went black Friday shopping at my thrifty stores.
They were not crowded. The usual crowd was there.
Each store was running a sale of some sort.
Nothing was full price so that is fabulous.
I went last year too.
I about passed on this jar of buttons.
I am a button freak. I have no idea why I was going to leave them.
I walked past and then I stopped in my tracks reached out my arm and grabbed them
before walking away. Sometimes I think I have something
vintage outta my system. Then the crafter in me takes over and say
HEY DON'T PASS those up. Button are expensive.
I am so glad I grabbed them.
I could not even open them in the store to see what was inside.
I had to wait till I got home and watch hubby struggle with the jar
before I could see the beauty of buttons I scored.
I am smitten with the old jar too.
I found this Milk glass Strawberry.
Its a container. The lid opens.
It feels like Pyrex.
Its all white inside.
I think it may be a sugar bowl.
This strawberry bowl is the size of a real large apple.
I am giving this to my friend Tiffany.
She collects strawberry vintage kitchen kitsch items.

The vintage sheets just keep on coming!
I am so happy. Here and there I have been finding sheets I love.
I am going to put these two twin size flat sheets in my Etsy shop.
They are so bright and have lots of potential!

You are looking at my 40th Birthday Present.
Seriously!

You have no idea ho long I have been wanting this house.
Since the age of 7.
My friend had this house. I also had a friend who
had the other house I loved. The 2 story town home with the moving
elevator. Have you seen it? It is here if you wanna peek.
That is an amazing price for that house too.

This Vintage 1970's A frame Barbie House is mine. All mine.
Finally. I am so happy. All the parts are there too.
All the windows, the doors, the columns the closet, oh my!!
I promise to blog more about it. I am currently decorating it.
I purchased this on Ebay.
They have so many of these homes on Ebay.
You have to keep your eyes open to find the right one for you
and then pounce on it. I have furniture that went to this house.
I have a few pieces. I need more and I am waiting on one in the mail.
I am going to love making this house up. I plan on giving it a sewing room.
The back of the house is just as pretty as the front of the house.
You can move this house around and change the look of it.
I am such a kid.

You have to BUILD the house. And it will look a lot like this once you open your box.
Eeeekk. Hubby helped me and we got it done in one night.

I am hanging up snowflakes above my tree. I will have photos soon of this too.

Thanksgiving feast was made by me and my Mother in Law.
I made the Turkey and oh my gosh. It came out
so fabulous and juicy. Want to know my secret?
I take salt, pepper, butter and chopped up celery, garlic and onions.
I mix them all together in a bowl.
I then take a handful and shove this mixture in between the skin and the meat.
All in the breast area just keep shoving it in there. Then stuff the rest in the cavity.
Then place your turkey UPSIDE down on a rack that
is a few inches away from the bottom of your pan.
You have to try to keep the bird off the pan. I then
coated it with salt n pepper on the outside (all over) and a little oil.
The oil gives the skin its crispy crunch.
The last hour the turkey is cooking you turn the bird over the breast gets a tan.
I have a tin foil tent covering mine until the last hour when I flip the bird I take off the foil.
The pan dripping makes the best gravy too.
People laugh when they hear how I cook my bird.
I never cook it any other way EVER.
Once I tried this...I NEVER went back to breast up.
I never get tired of hearing how awesome the breast is.
I prefer the dark meat.

I used lots of Vintage Green Pyrex.

Thrifting before Thanksgiving!

Raggedy Ann Christmas Ornies

anniescupboards 6 9:58 AM
I made several ornies for the Christmas Tree.
These are primitive Raggedy Ann doll heads.
I added hats and crowns and bows to their hair.
Each one has a string so you can hang them.

These sold as soon as I listed them.
(WOW!!)
Thank you Allison.

As of now I have 2 sets in there. These are one of them.

They have eyelet crowns.

These ones have little bows.

I kinda like the Crowns the most.

Pink Woodsy People Doll House

I listed this house on Etsy yesterday and it sold
not long afterwards.

Now that is awesome.
This is going to be a Christmas gift for some little girl.
I hope she loves it.
Oh I think I she will.

I have this same goblet in my bedroom.
It holds all of my change.

See! Well....Uhhhh
there...SEE!!

I have a set!!

I am going to try to see if I can use these milk glass pieces in some Christmas
displays this year. I will have to set up more little areas. Oh my!
Lots of decorating to do.
My craft room is even getting a Christmas Tree!

Charlie Brown Christmas Tree

anniescupboards Reply 9:18 AM
I have been setting up little displays all over the house.
Last year I was moving in a week before Christmas.
This year I get to take my time.
I am even making some Christmas decor.

I found this Charlie Brown and Linus set
at CVS this year. I love Charlie.
I stalked my store till they came in.
My friend told me about them and her displays
were already out in OCT! Why do they set
out Christmas in October?

I am slowly setting things up around here.
This year my Christmas colors are pink and lilac.

Vintage Snowflake Pyrex Bowl

My photo wall

anniescupboards Reply 9:10 AM
I was only going to do black frames on this wall in my craft room.
That was quickly not happening.

Can you believe it has almost been a year since I moved into this rental house?
Me either! We are going to renew the lease next month.
Hooray! I just love that I get to live on the lake
for another year. It is so pretty here.
God willing I can stay longer.

Maybe I will be able to do more decorating!
My craft room will prolly get a make over in January.
Same colors. Just a move around everything kinda make over.

Vintage Barbie Doll House Fun

anniescupboards 3 9:02 AM
This is Becky.
I got her a few years back for Christmas.
She has been out of the box for a while.
I have not taken anything else out.
I am going to soon.
I want to get her all moved into this house.
This is the Barbie Country Living Home.
Which I also got a few years ago.
You can see the post here about it.
There are a bunch of photos.

I have been buying vintage barbie toys.
I found the fridge and stove.
I love how much food came with it.

Plus with tons of cookware.
I would like to see some Pyrex in there.

I am crazy about the 70's vintage Barbie toys.

DIY Christmas Vase

anniescupboards 1 2:06 PM
This morning I had this idea to make a Christmas vase.
Not for flowers. I wanted to use the vase to put pretty things inside of it.
So while I went there to get the supplies needed for this, I found a few
other goodies as well. I found this little milk glass vase. It is half of the size
of the others I have been finding. So cute! I also found a little
lamb that wanted to come home with me.

These 2 vintage Pyrex Dishes.
Spring Blossom.

I found these 2 white deer. They are perfect.
I was shocked they were not roughed up.
I found the clear vase. I had a hard time picking out
which style I wanted. They have a zillion of them at the thrift
store. So many clear glass ones in different shapes and some with etching
of a pattern all around them. I finally chose two that were just plain clear.
I want to show off my vintage ornies I found several years ago.
I thought this would be pretty. Then I decided right there in
the store that it could be even better if I glued a bottom to it.
Make the vase even taller. So I quickly ran around to the other
side of the thrifty rack where they keep the candlesticks and wine glasses
and what not. They have so many of those to choose from too.

I finally decided to work with this sugar bowl.
It is nice and sturdy and pretty.
I did manage to find another vase half the
size of the large one so I grabbed that too.
I matched that up with a small vase.
I used E-6000 Glue.

The candle stick was just too high.

Now to wait for them to set.

Thrifty November Afternoon

anniescupboards Reply 4:41 PM

I went on a thrifty speed race hunt today. I am busy with a sewing order
and I have a gift I am making and really no time to go anywhere. Lucky
my friend called and forced me out cause she left a cake stand here.
I met up with her really fast and so glad I did!

I found this 4 quart Vintage Aqua Pyrex Bowl.
2 Flower Power Fun Pillowcases.

I found this mixture of glass thrifty goodness.
The canning jar is for my crafty supplies.
I found another Vintage Spring Blossom Pyrex Pitcher.
I will be selling this one in Etsy.
I have been having this think for Milk Glass lately.
I can not afford the real stuff, unless it's found thrifted.
I have been collecting some faux pieces here and there.
I am going to put up a small display with them soon.

I have been collecting the vases for a craft show project.
I have a really creative idea for them.
I just hope it turns out. I will show them off if it works.

My friend told me back in the day everyone used to throw these
white milk glass vases out!! What??

I am SOoooo excited over this find.
One flat twin size vintage Ghost Busters bed sheet!

There was a craft show over the weekend and I was unable to attend.

I wish I could have gone.
I was helping a friend out.

When my friend Amanda came over for the Fall gathering party,
she brought a few pieces of Vintage Woodland Pyrex over for me!!
I have a complete set now thanks to her. I only had one of these bowls.
She brought over all 3. She is super AWESOME!
These are perfect and just in time for Thanksgiving.
